Something New From The Soul
Happy Day #11 of 2025!
In this first Newsletter of the year, I’m announcing big changes.
Life is too short to be inauthentic.
So, this year, instead of doing things I’m good at, I’m going to be doing things I’m good at that also satisfy my soul.
Put another way, I’m going be following my True North this year.
I’m going back to the kitchen.
My book on healthy food,The 3-Day Reset, published in 2014, made my soul happy. Learning how to nourish myself and sharing those teachings brought a deep meaning to my life. And at the same time, the chopping, blending, and recipe creation at the stove energized my entire being and spirit.
Today, now well into mid-life, and after over a 10-year-long hiatus in which I’ve been raising children, overcoming life challenges, moving across continents and cities, and learning in the areas of psychology, yoga, mindset and meditation, I’ve decided to return to what feels authentic to the real me and what my inner self cherishes most.
Specifically, I’m going to be:
Creating a legacy of nourishing recipes that can be passed down through generations.
Touching those I care about through daily meals and dinner events.
Uplifting people everywhere by teaching them how to prepare home-cooked healthy food using the finest, purest ingredients.
This time around, I'm also adding an additional ingredient to my work in the kitchen: mindset.
Returning to my True North hasn’t been easy. It's been a tough road. And sticking to it through all the challenges that have and will come my way requires the right mindset.
So, as I create and share recipes from my kitchen, I’m also going to share my experiences with making the mindset shifts and perspective changes I needed to return to my True North and those I’ll need to keep myself there.
My hope is that this mindset sharing can similarly help you kickstart your own journey toward charting your authentic path, releasing more of your gifts into the world, and rediscovering the joy and enthusiasm that comes with doing so.
So, alongside recipes you'll also get wisdom gleaned from various philosophers, poets and great thinkers of past and present and mindset advice I’ve formed from my own experiences and learnings.
My wish is that with each new piece of content consumed, you'll leave excited to cook in your own kitchen and confidently armed with mindset tools that can help you connect to the whispers of your soul.
Whispers that are often soft and even inaudible, at times, but that unlock the keys to everything we want in our lives.
So, stay tuned for the official launch and rebrand - coming soon!
Before that happens, however, I want to kickoff the new year by sharing my recipe for a classic Victoria Sponge cake using the finest, most authentic ingredients.
Note: I only bake sweet treats about twice a year - once over the Thanksgiving holiday and once of the Christmas holiday season as I try to avoid sugar during the rest of the year as much as possible.
This cake recipe was made just about two weeks ago with my daughters.
Look out for the full recipe and my comments on the ingredients used in next week’s Newsletter which releases on January 17th.
Until then, may you stay true.
